I have been here a few times, with excellent food and service but today found the food not good. The Yorkshire was burnt and the meat was very fatty and grissly. We told the waitress and she seemed unconcerned and we waited over 20 minutes for her to bring the bill. We then had to go to the bar to pay as no one came to our table . we were not offered any sort if complimentary drinks or discount . this is not the service or standards we have had before , so we were so disappointed.

Went into the exhibition today around 5:30 to meet up with family who had been in there a few hours prior having drinks outside.
We are regulars who go in there at least once a week whether it be in the day for a drink or early evening for dinner as it is a family friendly and dog friendly pub.
Never had any problems in there before, the lady who is always working is super nice and accommodating, always chatting away and lovely to my daughter.
I even had a gender reveal party for my daughter in there and we’ve been in there on Christmas Day!!!
Today we had some drinks outside, then went into the bar to have some dinner early evening time. The bar was busy & super noisy there was workmen drinking at the bar, family’s next to us with children playing, dogs sat in there, etc.
When I went to order our dinner at the bar there was about 5 people serving and a child ran behind the bar! Just to give an idea of how busy and loud it was!
Start eating our dinner and my daughter started crying, she cried for a maximum of 1 minute before she stopped and was absolutely fine. We also didn’t just leave her there crying, we were sorting her out! She is 13 months old, she can’t talk, can’t communicate any other way but crying!? So she’s bound to cry at one point? Considering it’s a family friendly pub they should be expecting this.
The owner Paul then comes over to us, tells us to be considerate to other people in the pub, he said that he has kids - Not sure why he said that because then he clearly knows that children cry. Was just being down right rude to me for no reason considering she hasn’t even cried that long.
I was shocked I didn’t know what to say to him, I couldn’t believe he’d actually said that as I didn’t see any issue in how long she’d cried for!
We asked the table next to us if they had been bothered by her crying that didn’t even last a minute and they didn’t even know what we were talking about - probably because it is a pub and so noisy anyway!!
I would understand if she was crying for a long time and I didn’t do anything about it but for all of 1 minute I’m not going to go outside whilst I’m mid eating my dinner just to walk back in again! If she’d of continued to cry then of course I’d of gone outside to calm her down!
I honestly don’t know why he said it to us, if he’s a parent himself then surely he knows that situations like that can be so tough for parents. But what are we suppose to do? Never go out for dinner again?
As I walked out I said to Paul ‘happy now’ and he waved me off ?
I’ve spoke to people about what happened and a lot of people seem to dislike Paul and also say they won’t go in there when he’s in there! Wonder why.
Honestly the whole thing was a complete joke and I will not be stepping foot in there if he’s in there.

Very quiet meal tonight with great food. I had the blade of beef with was beautifully prepared and just flaked apart. My friend had mushroom risotto...very nice portion. And dessert included sticky toffee pudding and brownie. Service was friendly, however since there wasn't many customers in the restaurant, we were a bit disappointed as it was a long time before we were checked on and requestd a second glass of wine. The brownie was cold as if refrigerated and wasn't warmed prior to being served. This is a restaurant I enjoy going to and is one of my regular favourites.

Really nice pub. We were visiting a friend and decided to get lunch here.

The roast dinner was outstanding, couldn't fault it. Would definitely come again if we were in the area.

The pub has a nice atmosphere, but unfortunately, it seems people were allowed to vape inside, which made it difficult to breathe for some of us.

The best dish we had for dinner was their pie, which was nice with plenty of meat. Their sticky toffee and browny deserts were excellent.

If you like very spice food that has the same heat as eating mild curry, then this is a place to try. Go for the falafel or the chickpea burger but expect way more spice than the average dishes of this kind. It was a bit too much for me, but other people might love it.

There is plenty of parking behind the pub.
