Knebworth House & Gardens (School Trip ✏️🚍)

Taking Rory on a school trip to Knebworth House & Gardens for their writers' workshop was a truly memorable experience. We were fortunate to enjoy a beautiful warm day in June, which made the visit even more delightful. The gardens were stunning and meticulously maintained landscapes providing an inspiring backdrop for the workshop.

The house tour was equally impressive, offering a fascinating glimpse into the rich history and architectural beauty of Knebworth House. The knowledgeable guides shared intriguing stories about the house's past, which captivated both the children and the adults. It was a wonderful opportunity for Rory and his classmates to learn outside the classroom and immerse themselves in a unique historical setting.

After the house tour and writers' workshop, the children got to enjoy their lunches in a picnic area with plenty of benches. It was a great spot for everyone to relax and refuel. Post-lunch, we enjoyed a lovely tour around the gardens and even got to see the dinosaurs they have on display, which was a huge hit with the kids.

We are already looking forward to our next visit. Next time, we plan to explore the massive play area, which promises even more fun and adventure for the kids. Knebworth House & Gardens is a fantastic destination for educational trips and family outings alike. Highly recommended!

Beautiful house, immaculately kept lawns, and on the drive out, we saw some dear grazing on the side of the road. You can feel the history there.
There was a film shoot happening at the time of the visit, too, which added to the experience.

It was an unplanned visit, saw the sign on our way back to London. We bought our ticket at the gift shop. There weren’t many people around (being a weekday).

Lovely property with a cozy garden and maze. It’s a popular filming location as well as concert/events venue.

We enjoyed our visit, thank you kind lady (our tour guide).

The huge gardens include a maze, a dinosaur trail and a good sized cafe for food and coffee. The adventure playground area is about a 15 mins walk across the grounds or a short drive, but is worth a visit for the kids.
Parking included in entry fee.

Great place to visit! The guided tour was very informative and interesting. Everything in this house was 500 years old with artefacts from India and China … so much history … The gardens and the maze were lovely too! Kids would love the Dinosaurs models. The cafe offers excellent choice for lunch. Highly recommended for a family day-out!

Went to Petrolheadonism-live on the grounds of the estate, amazing classic cars from Movie classics to American muscle cars, loads of stalls to buy car number plates and clothing, managed to have a nice walk around the house and grounds, downside was a small burger not even a quarter-pounder for £10. Not far from junction 8 of A1M

£18.50 to get in and worth every penny. What an amazing place! Perfect for history lovers as a guided tour included in price where you can learn so much. No flash photography allowed. The gardens are extensive and the kids will love it. Something fun around every corner. Sculptures, dinosaur trail, a fort and a playground. Reasonably priced cafe on site and toilets throughout. There is a tower to climb, a maze and a small museum. Staff were friendly and extremely knowledgeable and were happy to chat and answer questions. I really cannot recommend this place enough. 5 plus stars!

First time visiting Knebworth House and Gardens but it won't be my last. Situated literally just off J7 of A1(m), the drive just into the park and to the ticket booth felt like something from Bridgeton.

First, there's a ticket booth where you show your digital barcode - at time of my visit it's a £1 cheaper buying tickets online - and you drive further into the park. There wasn't any wait but I imagine during peak summer holidays there may be.

Then you see the amazing Fort Knebworth.
With a very large range of children's outdoor apparatus - slides, climbing frames, zip lines, rope climb etc and loads of space, picnic tables and clean loos, if you live close enough I would recommend a season ticket if you have kids just for the play area so they can blow off steam.

There's a drinks hut selling tea, coffee, snacks and some very tasty ice cream but you are free to bring your own food in with plenty of grassing parking available.

We drove around the rolling grounds to the main buildings after finishing in the Fort, parked up on a hard standing car park and enjoyed three hours exploring the Gardens with the sweet pet cemetery, beautiful rose walk, the well kept maze, the woodland walk with breathtaking redwood trees, sculpture work, saw dinosaurs, the most amazing kitchen garden and more.

There wasn't time to fit the House in with viewing the Gardens for the first time and I look forward to our return for this.

We arrived around 11am and Fort Knebworth was empty for the first hour. The gift shop is reasonably priced for trinkets, souvenirs and kids' toys. I particularly liked being able to buy plants from the Knebworth nursery garden that I had seen in place on my walk around.
