Have been a customer of Sultans for well over 25 years, spending many a pleasurable visit there with family and friends. Having moved away from Lancaster City Centre for a while, it’s been lovely upon our recent return to re-acquaint ourselves with the restaurant. New staff, new menu. Fabulous quality & choice of food, attentive friendly service and as always a pleasant safe environment free of the sometimes weekend rowdiness found elsewhere. As a lone female, I’m very comfortable in dining there alone with just a book for company. Looking forward very much to my next visit. So much more on the menu to try…

This is hands down the best Indian food in Lancaster! Not only is the food incredible, but the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with a great atmosphere that really enhances the dining experience. The service was fantastic—the staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel very welcome. I will definitely be recommending this restaurant on my Chinese social media and I can’t wait to visit again. I highly recommend the prawn curry—the prawns were incredibly fresh and flavorful. An absolute must-try!

Where better to sample authentic Indian cuisine particularly if you’re abstaining from alcohol. Extensive menu, quick service, excellent food. Reservations not always required particularly if dining early doors.

Delicious meal at the Sultan last week. Great value and really tasty with friendly & efficient service from the team. Shout out to Wasim who did a great job! The Channa Puri started was INCREDIBLE! Loved the Balti & the Garlic Naan especially! Thank you. Lovely to visit one of Lancaster's oldest restaurants.

Better than Brick Lane... soz Londoners! This was a really great find and is a real GEM of Lancaster. We were intrigued by the building, which is an old church and went in to see if they had tables, not expecting to find a beautifully decorated room, a friendly welcome, EXCEPTIONAL service by a lovely gentleman called Wasim. He was attentive, polite and full of joy. We had the most amazing Indian food I have ever tasted. The mango lassie is INCREDIBLE! Delicious Poppadoms and Chutneys (the red one which I have never seen before was very tasty) and EXCELLENT curry's. I will certainly return! Thank you Sultan of Lancaster, thanks to the friendly Manager whose name I forgot to ask and thank you Wasim, blessings to you!

During our overnight stay in Lancaster, we were in the mood for a good curry, and this restaurant came highly recommended—and it didn’t disappoint. The food was excellent, and the service was top-notch. We especially loved the unique setting inside a beautifully decorated old church, which added a special touch to our dining experience. While the restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol, they offer non-alcoholic beer that paired nicely with our meal. A special shoutout to Ash, the manager, who was incredibly friendly and even suggested a lovely route for a quick walk around Lancaster. Highly recommend!

Ordered from here on the back of reviews , staff friendly & polite , food nothing to shout about (honestly) had a madras and they must of run out of chicken at 6pm no more than 2 cubes cut & diced up like you wouldn’t know also enough rice to feed you for the week to fill you up replacing the shady portion , same with the biryani hardly any meat , would I go again nope

It’s wonderful to return after 10 years and find that the taste remains just as amazing! The ambiance and service are excellent, making for a truly enjoyable dining experience. Our chicken korma was delicious—perfect for those with a sweet tooth. The chutney were heaven! We also tried the lamb deewana, which did not disappoint. The kids' meal was fantastic, with a generous portion. The staff, including the waiter and waitress, were warm and attentive, and Mr. Ash’s hospitality stood out. Looking forward to coming back again!
