Pros:

-Often able to find a car park space and charge is reasonable compared to south of England.
-Reception waiting times less than south of England

Cons:

-The main hospital number doesn't have a phone number queuing system and continuously rings
-Seen by a different specialist every time
-Specialists do not seem to have advanced knowledge on how to resolve issue (personal experience)

From scans, pre op meeting right until after we got home we can’t fault the antenatal teams, consultants, operating theatre team, the midwife’s, dr’s and nurses!.
Everything went like a dream on the day of the c section and watching everyone work as a well oiled machine was great to see and very reassuring. I was privileged to see some great teams at work!. People really enjoying their work and working well.
Our medical professionals sometimes get a bit of a kicking by the media and people that are not aware of the pressures and strains of working in a life or death environment and I think they need to wind their neck in.
Myself and my wife really appreciate all that was done and would like to thank all the team for bringing our baby safely and rapidly into the world.
Keep up the good work!!

My experience in the SDEC was absolutely lovely. The staff offered us hot drinks and food and everyone was super friendly. The doctor I saw made sure I was comfortable and understood what was going on and talked me through all of my test results. It really makes a difference when you're going through a very scary time to be treated so hospitably and I'm grateful for it (I'm only leaving 4 stars because I've had bad experiences in A&E in the past, but that goes for any hospital in the country)

Although on the whole many people will always support and give good feedback on treatment they receive, myself included, I can only say my latest experience at LRI was shocking. My case is to long to write about, so I won't. But seeing an old lady with a walking frame get no support from the reception/ triage desk, trying to get through the twin doors and help to take a seat was a key indicator that care has completely failed at this hospital. No wheel chair no assistance, no care. From my thinking the person in charge is a fraud or has no managerial experience, saying we are busy is no excuse.

Son was throwing up in pain and suspected an appendicitis, went to AE then was sent to a different ward , waited 7 hours and has given up as he was told he would have another 2 hours wait minimum. He left back without seeing a doctor or a nurse , I’ve been in third world hospitals that were a lot more efficient. This is pathetic… the star is for being able to write a review , it deserves a 0 , someone should do something about this, tax payers and hard working citizens should have a minimum decency when it comes to health care . unacceptable

Excellent service. All staff were very polite, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly under what must be difficult conditions in the NHS. It's never a nice thought having to go to go to A&E and thinking about the long waits possible but I can have no complaints about the service received. Well done.

Was urgently referred to the Opthalmology dept due to having a foreign body in my eye. Attended my appointment today (9th November) and was obviously feeling nervous. However the nurse was so welcoming and reassuring which put me at ease. Was seen straight away and the doctor was amazing so gentle and quick. It was a piece of an insect wing which must have happened while gardening and was very painful as was stuck in my cornea - wouldn't think that could be so painful. The doctor removed it so gently and quickly (never felt a thing) I couldn't believe it. So grateful for the amazing health care.
