We stayed for one night, but it won't be our last booking with you. We checked out of the room at 1000. We left at 1400 - only because we did not have the stamina to visit the grounds/garden. We loved Bethany's Dementia Choir and met the extended families attending. We visited the chapels, refectory, pre-loved book lounge, etc. We met your informative volunteer guides/organist. Great value if one is interested in Catholicism, social history, architecture, heritage. Many thanks to Rob who got us settled in. He is a great asset to you. Dress up warm, it is a cold building - especially in February.

I stayed at Ushaw for the weekend as we had a big band competition in Chester - le - street.||The college is an amazing place. It is steeped in history. The buildings are set on the top of a hill with fine views. The chapels are sublime and peaceful which have to be seen to be appreciated.||I stayed in a double room upstairs which was very comfortable. It had a comfy bed, on suite bathroom and tea and coffee facilities. The views from the window were very fine.||I had excellent breakfasts during my stay in the dining room. The college also has a cafe where I purchased lunch, which was also very good. ||I found the staff very friendly and helpful and would often have a chat. Some of the staff are volunteers as well. I had a guided tour of the college, by one of the volunteers, which was very good and learnt a lot.||The corridors had paintings being exhibited which were also though provoking. ||The whole experience was very good. I would certainly recommend to anyone thinking of staying here. ||

Wonderful house and lovely host and staff. Giving five stars despite some issues which aren't necessarily staff's fault and I'm sure will/could be fixed (some scuff marks behind bed, shower pressure was pretty much a trickle and mold in the kettle - which was cleaned and apologies made. Which was appreciated 👍🏼😀) Despite these small issues, the bed was lush and the room was lovely. Great breakfast provided, continental style. Beautiful chapel too. Amazing value for money. Will visit again!

The location and buildings are perfect for both nature/outdoor and history lovers. There are walking/running trails nearby which have their own historical routes and of course the building itself, with wow features such as St Cuthbert’s Chapel.||Superb welcoming staff make it an all round first rate stay.||Highly recommended. I will definitely return.

What a little hidden gem.. We ventured to Stanley to visit family, one of whom has a studio in this fantastic building. After we visited her studio, she took us on a tour of the building. Each room is beautifully presented with artefacts and related information. The chapel itself is quite remarkable. A beautiful area, with rooms dedicated to figures relating to the buildings' rich history. I'm really happy we found this place, which I discovered you can stay in if you're visiting the area. The views are amazing, and the ruins on the site are a reminder of just how massive this site was back in the day.

Our only complaints concerning Ushaw college B&B, from what was otherwise a lovely stay, was the coldness of our room on the day of arrival. The electric wall heater did eventually warm the bedroom but it took several hours and, although this is old building, we thought this a little too long.||The car parking provided for those B&B-ing is located some distance from the main building and, although not a problem for us, it could be for those less sturdy. Apart from that every thing else was fine and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

It was an honour to stay at Ushaw Historic House and to have a small part in the ongoing story of such a beautiful and magnificent place. Lovely to see it adapting and remaining relevant in changing times. The staff are so passionate and knowledgeable, really made us feel welcome and went to great lengths to inform us about the historic and current purpose. Wonderful architecture and steeped in history. Would love to return in warmer seasons to make use of the gardens.

Our room was attractive, peaceful and very clean. There was an adequate electric heater as well as sometimes-available central heating, The twin beds were exceptionally comfortable, and we passed peaceful nights.||||Continental breakfast was satisfactory. There is no restaurant on site, but generous portions of good food are available at a pub one mile away.||||The gardens are really attractive and calm, though some of the narrower driveways may test your car's suspension.||||Service is very friendly and amazingly quick. Two separate minor plumbing problems were fixed instantly by the persons we reported them to. How many (even 4-star) hotels would achieve that?
