Sad to say, as a local paper it has really gone downhill since the Trinity Mirror takeover. It is also terribly biased politically now, something which didn't happen under previous editors. The website is a joke, basically the Daily Record website with a couple of pieces of local news thrown in. The reporting has all the panache of being written by zombies. I get the impression the reporters have given up or don't care. You just need to look at a Guthrie Group newspaper, like for example, the Largs and Millport Weekly News to see what a local weekly paper should be. And it's sad, so sad. It is like watching an old friend dying of some terminal disease, in this case, lack of care and effort. I would have given only one star but sentiment for former days won out and I couldn't. I honestly cannot see a long term future for this paper under the present ownership. I've bought it every week for many years, and now I'm on the point of giving up on it.

Stopped buying it years ago. Very poor value. Think it survived because of adverts which you can now do for free on the web. Its a good paper for starting up your coal fire.

The people who work here leave a lot to be desired. Attitude and people skills are shocking! Considering they are meant to be educated people it seems they most of them can’t read simple instructions!

So far I have phoned them three times to place an ad and their phone automatically cuts off after three rings , the kind of thing that you would expect from a Mickey Mouse outfit

"Journalist" hacks just copy ànd paste the court reports which makes up 50% of the paper. Yes Frazer im talking to you.The other half is ads.

OK for adverts and if you want to know who's been to court, plus the out and about is more like 'the latest story going round the office' .
