We have just returned from a very enjoyable break with Cairngorm Travel, staying at the Duke of Gordon Hotel. The Hotel Manager was there to greet us on arrival and he and some of the staff were there to wave us off when we left. Fortunately we had good weather, which of course all added to the enjoyment. It's true that the hotel is a little tired but we were very pleased with our spacious room which was cleaned every day. The breakfast was very good and generally, so was the evening meal, with plenty of choices. It was great on the last night when a young man piper led us in for our final evening meal. It would have been good if there had been a ceilidh afterwards in the ballroom, to round off the evening.|The hotel is very near to the train station, and we took a trip to Perth on the first day, which we enjoyed immensely. On the 2 other days, we went on the trips which were both very good. Laco, our driver, was a star, and went that extra mile to provide a good holiday experience.

We booked the Highland House Party coach trip to take in my birthday celebrations. The whole experience was fabulous. To start with we had conscientious, informative, entertaining and more importantly very safe drivers. After a very long journey we were very grateful to see the beautiful log fire burning as you enter the reception and had a very well organised efficient check in. Our bedroom was very spacious, with a large en-suite, the bed and pillows were very comfortable ensuring a good nights sleep. Breakfasts were superb and evening meals very welcome after a long day out sightseeing on fab trips included in the trip. The ceildh night was so much fun, the traditional musicians knew their stuff and thankfully there were a few other guests who knew the dances ensuring a great nights craic. The trips opened our eyes to the sheer beauty of the Highlands and the organised trips were very worthwhile. Thank you for a memorable birthday experience.

Out first room we were given was spacious and looked lovely, but there was a big hole in the mattress. The second room was smaller which was fine but the bathroom was covered in black mould. Dinner and breakfast was a disaster. Dinner was tasteless and soggy , with limp brown salad. Nobody explained how we order drinks . Breakfast, we showed up at 8.45 there was no eggs, no vegetarian cooked option, several empty hot plates. I appreciate not everywhere can cater to allergies or intolerances, so they no alternative milk options. I had toast for breakfast, the fruit was rotten. What I enjoyed was the nearby scenery , the receptionist was lovely. One man who was waiting staff was quite lacking , sat us at a table with no cutlery or crockery didn't seem to want to be there. Piper at night was a suprise. Overall it was ok but food was truly awful.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights from 18/01/25. My room was lovely and quiet. Staff were all brilliant always smiling which I feel shows they are looked after. Enjoyed all the meals and thought it was great value for the money I had paid. Enjoyed dancing every night. Booked to go again in June and really looking forward to another good break with Cairngorm.

Mum enjoyed a great trip here this month as part of a coach trip. As it was over Easter I contacted the hotel to order a bottle of wine. The team at the hotel couldnโ€™t have been more helpful. Special thanks to reception team and to the bar staff who kept mum supplied with ice to keep her bottle cold. Great hotel thank you

Just returned from a very pleasant holiday stay in this lovely hotel situated in the village of Kingussie in the Cairngorms. The accommodation was excellent, comfortable beds, spotlessly clean bed linen and nice fluffy bath towels. Full English/Scottish breakfast and a four course evening meal from a menu choice of three different ones each evening. The hotel staff were always helpful and cheerful. I see this hotel has a three star rating - donโ€™t understand the official star ratings, but certainly from my experience l would most certainly rate it 4 star at the very least. I have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world and not had food and hospitality as good as The Duke of Gordon Hotel.
