Virgin Media Store - Bolton - Bolton

I went to the Virgin Media Bolton store to get Virgin Broadband, as I thought it'd be a bit simpler than doing it online. It wasn't. I paid a £25 deposit in store, which I was okay with, and set up a Direct Debit for payment. I walked out with the router and was able to get myself set up at home after calling Virgin Media.

So far, so good - except when it came to paying bills. I noticed the money hadn't left my account, and when I logged onto my Virgin Media account I was greeted by a notice saying my account was sixty-odd quid in arrears! It turns out that Bolton store hadn't set up the Direct Debit or even passed along the £25 quid I'd paid! It took three online chats and one phone call to sort this. In the end, I had to pay my first month manually and finally got it sorted.

The online staff were good. Though if anyone's wondering why I'm not complaining directly to Virgin Media about this is that their 'recommended option' for raising a complaint is going to online complaint chat. At which point the chat tells you that all agents are busy - no option to queue, or email. So on the whole, okay service from Virgin Media online, poor service from Virgin Media Bolton.

They are not very professional. I have been there for three time in the last 3 months to see if I can fine a good deal (because I want just Internet and they try to sell Calls and TV); the last time that I have been there to see the offer about Internet, I sat down, I spoke with the seller and after came another seller and he said what do you want to be happy? Because you came here often and they got other things to do. I said ok bye bye. They don't try to help you. It's normal that I try to buy the good thing for me, I cannot just pay for 12 months contract and be unhappy!

I've not had an issue with the internet speed or line rental however, the customer service has been below par! I took out my virgin media line rental and phone line in Feb 2019, I bought it through one of their sales staff, sto start off he happened to spell my name wrong, misinformed me about the 1st month charges and didn't complete the refer a friend process correctly. It's now March12th, I've rang them several time between taking out my package and being sent my first bill still nothing resolved. I've spoken to their staff across the globe in their call centres in india, uk etc. P.S. I've also had my first bill come through:| Please can someone get in touch with me to help resolve my issue?

Atrocious customs service. Went in with my partner, was heavily implied that their bank card wasn't theirs. When I explained by legal standards the information on the card was correct because my partner is going through the transition (as my partner is trans gender) the man serving us (his name was Sam) was very rude including using the words "well you're a Miss not a Mr then"
Made my partner extremely uncomfortable and exceptionally self conscious.
Needless to say, he lost a sale and we will not step foot in that store again.

As within my experience, don't expect a service at peak times within the BL2 6 area. Happy to sign new customers up and place them on the network, but it appears that it can't handle (Utilisation error) it! 7pm onwards speeds go a slow as 1-2mb and the TV goes off. Service is not fit for purpose in my opinion and no-one seems to want to listen. I recommend that you look into a supplier that can handle the customer base as you'll just be paying for something that doesn't work properly.

Visited the store recently, Put together the right package for me, very quick efficient and new their stuff. The sales manager even made me a brew! Great service!

Don't install Virgin media in your home if you DO NOT want any hassle.
We wished to cancel our virgin and notification was made on the 25th August 2014, we went live with B T for all services T V/Broadband/Phone on the 15th September, but even today 10th November we are STILL getting letters and phone calls from Virgin, saying that we still have an outstanding bill even though you pay in advance for their services.
If your are thinking of having Virgin Media installed in you home and like being hassled, go for it.
If you want a hassle free service that is reliable without pressure DON'T USE VIRGIN

Excellent service, I went in as i had a problem with my internet and (i think his name was john?) that works there managed to get me a super hub three that i could take home and i was up and running as soon as i got home 🙂 i came back a few weeks later as i wanted to change my subscription as i wanted tv too and helped me do this and change my bill date to a more suitable day of the month

not sure why people are complaining and leaving 1 star reviews about their internet service ... as far as i know that's not really down to the shop - i've never had any issues with virgin
