Great area with access to the Bridge's Shopping centre and on the square there's restaurant's, pubs the theatre and great music venues and hotels are all near to keel square. It's used for Christmas, big events like Pride, big sporting events Especially the Football and also the fountains and water pools for the children to play in and around the water.

It's a beautiful space for families to get together.

And when the new Sunderland Culture House Sunderland, a multi-million pound, four-story venue set to open this autumn.

It will house the City Library, various galleries including an immersion gallery, podcasting studios, and an event space. There's also a new pavilion structure with a large immersive screen, which is there for at least 2 year's. Sunderland is a growing and friendly City. Amazing.

One of my favourite real ale pubs is here so often pass through. There are other bars and cafes to suit all. Across is other pubs and also Sunderland Empire and The Fire Station. Sometimes there's art installations which can be quite fascinating.

Had a lovely meal 2 course 19pounds ...tomato soup with crusty bread...then main sea bass fillets over roasted mini potatoes with caperberries and greens .
Fish was cooked to perfection juicy and tasty.

Didn't take a photo...food went down so easily and I was famished.

Great walking around the town today seeing all the stalls getting ready for the food and drink festival this weekend... And the Euros are about to get going. Homemade samosas were fantastic!
Check out the art work around the square , including the temporary knife crime Angel sculpture and the Vaux brewery dray and horses.

Its a good place to walk around.
Luckily during this time the Knife angel statue was also placed here. So, it was a good conicidence.
This square is fully pedestrian so its a good idea to park your car at Bridges car park nearby.

It's looking really nice around here. The botanist and the Tavern are both lovely. The botanist is probably the bigger of the two with more seating. I prefer the choice of lagers in the Tavern as peroni and hells are both delicious. Haven't eaten at the botanist yet but will be trying the hanging kebabs soon. The Moroccan flat bread and belly pork starter at the Tavern were excellent. The bad news is M&S leaving the Town. This will obviously effect footfall. M&S should be ashamed of themselves deserting their loyal customers, many of whom are elderly and won't want to try and find a bus for a 20 mile round trip ! It just proves these companies couldn't care less about serving their communities and always put profits and shareholders first..
