Disappointing although inexpensive visit. Everything appeared more shabby than last year. Access to various areas was limited. The cafe is ok but we sat outside & had a relatively long wait for 3 cups of coffee. Toilet facilities are adequate but not particularly pleasant. Staff were polite & helpful. There is access to a very nice public park.

Attended for the dragon parade and had a blast! The farm, village, and museum were enough to keep an 11 and 13 year old interested from 12-4, and they didn't want to leave. It was quite busy just after the parade, but we all enjoyed it!

I wanted to like this place I'd planned the visit for a couple of months while I was in the area , on entering there was workman and scaffolding, through the main entrance the fountain wasn't working and had some dirty water still in it , wasn't as historic as I imagined, a few long house styled thatched buildings , some ancient breeds of cow, sheep , goat , horse , pigs nothing much else I thought there would be reenactors explaining how it was to visitors , you've got to use your imagination it needs more information boards or interactive boards , discount for people on benefits and your ticket lasts a full year , I won't be rushing back

What a wonderful place. Visited when the dragons were on display, great little museum with stories of Anglo Saxon life, a farm and a replica village. My son loved it. The cafe was excellent as well, great service and nice food. Only thing I would say is it took a while to enter as only one person was on the till.

Very interesting attraction with something for everyone. I was (unnecessarily) worried the museum part would be boring for my 3 year old but she really enjoyed the interactive archeology exhibits.

The farm had a great selection of animals although it was laid out a little unintuitively (but maybe that's because it's an accurate medieval farm?). Animals were very friendly!

The cafe and play park were also excellent. The park also had something for all ages.

An excellent historical place for all ages! Jarrow Farm holds an amazing variety of animals such as ponies, pigs, cows and goats, as well as different birds, sheep and even working cats that like to be stroked. They have historical features such as Saxon buildings, with a working fire (and rope for safety - although children must be supervised by an adult). You can feed some of the animals, but please do ask which to feed. A bag of feed is only £1. And if you buy a ticket (£9.50), it will last you all year.

A very pleasant walk on Father’s Day. Concessions for us oldies and tickets that last all season.
The walk around the animals and Iron Age settlement are interesting, as is the inside museum about Bede and the monastery.
There are inside and outside activities for young children.
There was a bit of a wait for cooked food in the cafe but plenty of space outside to eat it.
If you want to be a bit more refined and eat inside, then it’s better to book with the cafe.
Set aside a morning or afternoon. You can easily spend several hours wandering.
