Volunteers were helpful and welcoming. The hall itself offers a fascinating glimpse into history, making the visit both educational and enjoyable. Surrounding the hall are beautiful gardens, perfect for a peaceful stroll. There’s also a small playground with a charming wooden castle—great for keeping little ones entertained.

We went to visit today and the weather was great. We came last year end of March, beginning of April and had good weather too. This year, the flowers were in bloom and so was the wisteria
What a beautiful scent in the walled garden. Lovely and quite short promenade to go there from the maim house. Had a quick lunch outside and there was no shortage of tables, which is always great ! Then we ma get to get a couple of seats and rest under the trees. Truly appreciated as we need to drive home for more then an hour. Didn't visit the house as weather was too good to be inside! A beautiful place nevertheless 💛

Absolutely wonderful visit! Totally didn't think about it being 4th of July when we visited and they had a band on, and speeches! The music was fab, we had our 20 month old son with us so obviously couldn't stand still gor long but this worked innour advantage as it meant we got the whole grounds to ourselves as everyone else was listening to the speeches etc!

Super toddler friendly, he loved running through all the gras paths in the nuttery! Clean facilities.

Only downsides were not cafe, which was fine as we took a picnic, but there are pubs and cafes in local village a few minutes walk away. Not sure if the little coffee truck that was at the entrance is always there, we got 2 hot drinks which cost over £8 which we thought was steep and were actually very very bitter mocha's.

Other little thing is check out parking before visit, maybe because there was an event on but we couldn't get parked on the on street parking, nor would I want to with a toddler but we luckily stumbled upon a free car park a 6ish minute walk away.

Washington Old Hall is a beautifully preserved National Trust property that offers a truly enriching and atmospheric experience. From the moment you step through the gates, you’re welcomed into a space rich with history, character, and charm.

The atmosphere is peaceful and inspiring, making it a perfect spot for both history enthusiasts and those simply looking to enjoy a tranquil day out. The grounds are well-maintained, the interiors thoughtfully presented, and the overall setting provides a wonderful sense of connection to the past.

Staff and volunteers were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the property, which added greatly to the experience. Their insight helped bring the history of the hall to life.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and am already looking forward to returning. It’s a hidden gem that deserves recognition and repeat visits

This is a very small site so can’t really make a day of it. We had two children and there wasn’t much to entertain them . The park is only small (a slide) wasn’t aware we had to book disabled parking but will know for next time. Nice gardens and went inside the house for the bug search! Friendly people. Good for a morning filler. Only got pics of the children which I don’t want to post

An excellent place to spend a couple of hours learning about local history, exploring the fascinating manor house, and enjoying the beautiful estate.

I enjoyed my visit here. It's compact and easy to look around, although the upstairs isn't accessible to wheelchair users. There's a small garden, again accessible by steps, and a small antiques/bric a brac shop run by local volunteers. No cafe onsite, although there are toilets. However, as the hall is in Washington village, there are cafes there. It took me about an hour to look around and watch the video.

A lovely National Trust property. It's only small, but great. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We visited last year and loved it.
