Large area of lowland heath, wild with plenty of paths to explore, two hardcore routes for wheelchairs. Pushchairs. Dog friendly but no toilets/refreshments. Plenty free parking. Absolutely stunning 360 degree views.

Me and Star went for an evening walk. It was great to have one main path to follow that interconnected all the other car parks that are free nearby. There were loads of extra paths to take to let you explore the entire area. Unfortunately didn't see the Owl wood sculpture we came looking for.

Excellent for walking alone, with family or dog, unsuitable for people who have mobility issues, no facilities, free parking but not well sign posted, scenery beautiful

Very large area. Some bits are full with families and prams, others -with teens on bikes (all were very polite), but also saw and heard motorbikes.
Check an Alltrails route Waldridge Fell Valley Circular for a walk with your teens.

Nice quiet place to wander with your dogs. Small parking area . Gravel path to walk round or you can wander off lots of nature trails , some nice views & a few memorial seats to sit on to enjoy the scenery

Lovely walk, especially for dogs. Plenty of ground to cover, it is sign posted but quitd easy to get lost.

I spent about two hours wandering about the forest and around the river.

This important lowland heath has panoramic views of Durham and Gateshead.
North Fell has a wheelchair accessible path from Tinklers Row Car Park which is a short loop. Unfortunately there are no facilities onsite, but none the less it's still worth a visit.
To the south there are plenty of trails that criss cross the fell providing a variety of habits great for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts.
