Was at the counter at 5:16 to check my bags. No one was there. All of a sudden a guy came from the back and said they closed the counter already and to go through the line and they would check my bags. We get through and the supervisor at Abilene Airport says they cannot check our bags and if we we can go out and return with smaller bags. She was very sarcastic knowing the plane was leaving in 45 minutes. This is the blonde lady that has no business being a supervisor. She also said she deals with this 50 times per day. You could tell she had no intention of being helpful.. Then the American Airlines representative came over after the blonde lady went to get her. I’m not sure what she said to her but she said it’s a rule I have to be there :45 minutes early and I told her we were and the plane is not scheduled to leave until 6:10. I was waiting at 5:16. It was a terrible experience. I would give 0 stars if I could. The employees could really use customer service training.

Do not TRY to fly out of this airport! Just drive to DFW and save time, money and your sanity. The combination of American Airlines and the rude and unhelpful staff at this joke of an airport not caring if you or your baggage make it to your destination is maddening! I only wish I could give it less than one star!

Missed our flight due to no one being at the baggage claim area. After waiting for 10-15 minutes I Walked to security where we were told we had to be there 45 minutes before take off. We were there, along with the two other travelers who were waiting to check their bags at an empty desk as well. Their lack of customer service and doing their job by simply being at their stations alone caused us and I assume the other two travelers major havoc and almost cost my daughter her job, as this was a business trip. Not to mention there was nobody in the entire airport except the three of us wanting to check our bags so we could get on our plane, so it’s not like they were super busy or anything. They did nothing, and after 3 business trips out of there in 2 months for my daughter…we will be driving to DFW from now on because the detriment they caused is well worth the time it will take to drive to DFW and park a car for an entire month

FBO side: decent services. Airport services are ok.
American Airlines: small checking counter with single self checking counter. The same folks checking you in are also servicing / loading the baggage. United did 1 year trial run into the airport but have since departed
Waiting area: small with only a single (usually empty) vending machine inside security.

Seriously, what choice do you have? Nothing is open. Enjoy $4 vending machines where credit card might or might not work. And, American Airlines sucks.

Nice... all drink machines inside checkpoint are broken. Stay thirsty my friends.

I was on hold on the phone for over 30 minutes just for information to another airport state available. So obviously they don't have any normal human to communicate with. !!!!!! So obviously I had become very frustrated just to talk to a human on the phone. !!!!!! American airlines has always been the best!!!!! So yes I am very disappointed with the service. !!!!!!

4 of my last 5 flights from Abilene, TX have not left on time and have led to subsequent. missed connections. I book my flights to ensure my travel time is short as possible, with 45-60 minutes built in for any connecting flights to give myself time to use the restroom, grab a snack, and get to my next gate with time to spare. I fly frequently, and this works everywhere in the country, except here. I've never had such a consistently bad traveling experience anywhere else and the nonchalant attitude of the staff is very disconcerting. No one appears in charge, from now on I'm driving to DFW, this way I can trust I actually get what I'm paying for. I've only seen American fly from here, and I've no issue with the airline, for the record.
