Library is nearby and a great place to get work down , however I don’t understand the point of the early learners area not being in an enclosed space separate from the library. A library should be quiet so that people are able to focus on whatever they’re reading / doing yet children singing and chanting makes that very hard. I know there is two sides of the library, with one being mainly for work yet seats are mostly taken up which results in having to go to the loud and noisy side with kids screaming. Whoever decided a kids play area should be in the middle of a library is silly.

Regarding remodeling. A disaster. Who thought this was a good idea in the planning office as they should be sacked.
Libraries are supposed to be quiet places where one can read and/or study. This is impossible now because it's noisy as hell.
It used to have class and elegance. Now as others mentioned, it looks like a doctor's waiting room. Clinical and devoid of any character or history. What a mess.
The staff are nice though. Kudos to them for being able to put up with the noise and dreary appearance of the place.

Staff are lovely people, always super friendly and ready to help. The kids area is fantastic and always makes my day better to hear them having fun. The layout is a touch confusing compared to the old set up, but the interfaces dotted around are really helpful in locating something specific.
I would like to see more of a range of books available, but generally speaking there is something for everyone there

Absolutely shocking. Was sat at the computers , 3 of us, 1 had a seat with no computer in front of so we assumed we can sit there and use that desk to study? as it is a library? whilst the other two did use the computers. member of public rudely came over and a member of staff , who wasn’t 100% polite to us children as customers, did sort it and the 3 said they could move up a space (on to another chair in front of a desk with no computer) so this member of public can use the computer. was told by the male member of staff this was okay. we continued doing our thing, in a library, noise levels down, revising for our upcoming IMPORTANT exams. a RUDE member of staff, WENDY, came over being very belittling us as she must’ve assumed we were younger lol, spoke to us awfully, had an awful attitude and made me feel so uncomfortable as i was in this public space with my friends minding my business and had this lady being in my presence, then had her come out of nowhere being horribly rude. awful. could’ve spoke nicely and made her point (which didn’t make sense) in a more professional way, you know as she’s meant to be the worker and we are the customers? never coming back again. what a sad thing as the library is great, just isn’t reflected in the workers. was told i can’t sit at a computer to study as it isn’t a study zone. isn’t the point of a library to study? maybe remove that play area or add more computers not harass the people using it. thanks wendy x

Fantastic Library and Museum.

With exhibitions of art, ancient Egypt and Bolton itself! Also lots of fun activities to do with the children, such as visiting the aquarium, using the computers, an excellent children's library with a fantastic range of books. I also love the gift shop with beautiful toys, jewellery, stationary, soft toys, and much more!

I have just been to the Bolton Central library . . The staff are always very helpful perhaps . Also very . Important is that they are also polite. Also the library toilets entrance was busy . With a party of school children. But that is not always the case. .
