My wife and I booked a room at the Borgue Hotel for my wife's birthday. We booked three night's but decided to add on an extra night while we were there as we really enjoyed it.
Really lovely accommodation, room was great with plenty drawer space and the bed was really comfortable 👌.
Martin and Michelle that own the hotel were brilliant, nothing was a problem and very friendly, a lovely couple.
Food at the hotel was excellent 👌, served in the bar, also very popular with the locals as it was busy every night.
Borgue is a great base for Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas, Gatehouse of Fleet and the Solway Coast.
Before we left we booked another four nights based on the lovely time we had, and we'll be holidaying regularly at the Borgue Hotel.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone considering a stay in this area.

Called in for a quick pint on the way for our evening meal. Lovely warm welcome from the landlord. Great traditional village pub. Great to visit a place where you immediately feel at home and you are given excellent service. Will be back again soon.

When we holiday in a cottage in this wonderful part of Scotland the Borgue hotel and cosy pub is our favourite venue. So when we recently needed an overnight stay with our two spaniels the Borgue hotel was our obvious choice.Our room was absolutely perfect in every way. Michelle and Martin have obviously put their heart and soul into creating a welcoming, homely feel to their hotel. They are both perfect hosts and are very accommodating. After a gloriously comfortable nights sleep a delicious breakfast set us up for the day and our long journey home to North East England. For anyone considering a touring holiday exploring this beautiful part of Scotland and in need of accommodation or a hearty pub meal we can highly recommend the Borgue hotel. Thank you Michelle and Martin for your very warm welcome and looking after us both and our two dogs so expertly. We will definitely return again as soon as possible……as your renowned afternoon tea is still on our bucket list.

We didn't stay at the hotel as we stayed in a local cottage, so we can not write a review on the actual hotel. We did, however, visit the pub (several times) that Martin and Michelle run to the rear of the hotel. What a gem of a pub. Everybody was very friendly. Locals are happy to give local advice on places to visit. Food was fantastic home cooked comfort food. We highly recommend visiting this welcoming and friendly pub.

Really friendly bar. Martin and Michelle were very welcoming and all the locals so friendly too. Dog friendly and some lovely whisky from a local distillery. Would recommend

Our third year on holiday in this beautiful part of Scotland. After we came across this great little pub at the back of the Hotel in 2022 it has become our 'go to place'. A very warm welcome from Martin, Michelle and staff plus delicious food are both guaranteed. Our two spaniels are made welcome too which makes our holiday experience all the more special. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts …..we hope to be back next year in time for afternoon tea.

Really nice, welcoming bar. Our fish pies were absolutely delicious and piping hot 🔥
Special mention for the ginger sponge and custard which was exactly what a pudding should be.
Although we don't have a dog, the ones who came in with their owners all got a wee treat!
All in all a great experience and highly recommend 👌

Four of us staying in self catering accommodation in nearby Ross Bay called in twice last week for evening meals. What a friendly reception we received from the owners. ( Martin was away curling on the first night ). The food was excellent and great value......and when Martin mentioned to a customer that sticky toffee pudding was on the menu a collective sigh of appreciation went round the room !!! Delightful.
