It started with me requesting an afternoon move. I asked for the move to start at 1pm, but the branch manager absolutely insisted that this could not be accommodated, and the very latest his team could do was 12pm. This was inconvenient to me but I changed my arrangements to fit in with a 12pm move.

However 12pm arrived, and no one appeared. By 12:10 still no one had arrived - and I received no courtesy phone call from the Perth branch to inform me that the team were going to be late. That is just basic unprofessionalism. I phoned the branch at that point, and was told the team were on their way. They didn't appear at my door until 12:30pm, which is completely ridiculous, and beyond unprofessional - especially (a) with no phone call informing me that they were going to be late, and (b) after all the fuss the branch manager had made the previous day about how it was essential for the team to start no later than 12pm so that they could fit the move in.

At the end of the move, I discovered an item of my packaging had been damaged during the move. I informed the removal man of this - and he didn't even respond to me. He just walked away. Very unprofessional. So I said to him, "Presumably this is something I inform the office about." And he then said "Yes."

So I phoned the branch and informed them, and they asked me to send them photos which I did. Then the branch manager phoned me, and told me that the packaging was fragile, and "these things happen". He accepted no responsibility for the damaged box, and told me he was not prepared to compensate me for my box that his team broke.

This is obviously completely ridiculous. The boxes were damaged while being handled by Clockwork Removals - therefore Clockwork Removals is responsible for that damage - it's as simple as that.

If the boxes were fragile, then it was Clockwork Removals' responsibility to protect them properly while they were in the back of the van. They also moved a glass table for me, which is obviously more fragile than a plastic storage box, and it wasn't damaged during the move - therefore it was obviously protected properly while in the removal van in a way that the plastic box wasn't - and therefore the Perth branch manager's argument that "the boxes were too fragile" is completely invalid. If that was an argument, then "a glass table is too fragile to be moved by us" would also be a valid argument - and that would be patently ridiculous for a removal firm (or one of its branch managers) to say to a customer.

Two of my items went missing during the move, including a very expensive chef's knife. I suspect it was stolen out of back of the van when it was left unattended and open in the street.

I emailed the company via their website to report this whole debacle, and needless to say my email went unanswered.

So in short: if you want to have a good removal experience in the Perth area, or if you're someone who expects to receive a reply when you email a company, then don't go anywhere near these clowns.

My response to their reply:

How are you "committed to putting our customers first"? You didn't even reply to my email to you. That's the most basic form of customer service that there is, and you didn't even do that.

The booking time I was given was 12pm. If it had been 12-1, then I wouldn't have phoned your office at 12:10 to ask where they were, would I? This proves that you're liars as well as spectacularly incompetent.

What does "some bags were not packed robustly" mean? What "bags" are you talking about? I told you in the review - and in the email that I sent you - that it was ONE BOX that was damaged. And if you mean that box, then what do you mean "it was not packed robustly, leading to damage?" It was a box - it had stuff inside it, and the lid on that box was securely fastened. How is that "not packed robustly"?

Every single person I've told about my experience of dealing with your company has responded in exactly the same way - they've literally burst out laughing. And this ridiculous reply is completely consistent with all the rest.

I had a great experience recently with Clockwork. Adam, who surveyed my property for the move, was friendly and professional and worked with me to keep the price down. The two guys who did the move on the day (whose names I unfortunately have forgotten) were both friendly and extremely efficient -- they had everything in the van, moved and unloaded in just a few hours. I hope I don't move again any time soon but I will certainly use Clockwork when I do!
