Fabulous National Trust property. Decent size castle with lego figure trail for kids. Had food in home farm which was delicious and reasonably priced. Second hand bookstore was open too. The walks are great with extensive gardens, trails down to beach and around Swan Pond which is more like a lake than a pond. This also has a cafe and ice cream stop and toilets. Lots to do and explore and can easily spend the whole day there. Will go back again.

It is amazing place!!! I am in love with this place. magnificent view of the sea, nature. and the photos are just fabulous! and the gas house by the sea is like from a fairy tale book! I will come again and again. Only if you go by bus - it goes not very often

Turned up just in time for a guided tour around the castle. The guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly. The castle is stunning and the gardens and the surroundings are beautiful. The kids got in for £1 each with their Young Scot cards so saved us quite a bit of money. We spent about 2 and a half hours here and would definitely recommend it to others.

This Castle is amazing. The history behind how it came to be and so interesting to find out about the reasoning behind the architecture and decor. The inside is full of elegant artifacts from the late 1700s to the late 1800s. You learn about Earls and Marquees who lived there and why. It has so many lovely rooms with lots of antiques to look at. The staff are very knowledgeable and have the answer to any question you might have. They are friendly and easily approachable. On the day of our visit the Castle had a Lego figure hunt for children. They had hidden lego figures throughout the rooms of the Castle and they got a small prize at the end of the tour.
There are toilets and a small cafe just outside.
It is wheelchair accessible.
There is a huge garden outside that you can explore or just sit in and enjoy the views around you.

Great outdoor and indoor experience.
The grounds are extensive, and the Castle itself is stunning both inside and out.
We visited on Easter Sunday 2025. The fact that it was a lovely day brought out a huge number of visitors. Despite this, there was ample parking and plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the experience.
There is a long and interesting history attached to the castle, including the amazing story of Scipio, the freed slave.
It's definitely my favourite National Trust for Scotland property 👍

Amazing place to visit, easy to find with plenty of parking, every staff member we spoke with were very friendly and helpful.

The castle itself was beautiful and obviously very well cared for with plenty of information available about the history of the area and staff in many of the rooms to give extra information and answer questions but if I'm honest the grounds were what really stood out, the deer park, the walled gardens, the swan pond and the woodland paths were stunning and very well cared for and maintained.

We drove an hour and a half to get there and it was definitely worth the time and I would recommend to anyone for a visit

You can literally spend the whole day here! Lovely castle inside and out. Nice wee cafe too. Great for families too because it's got a massive kids play area!

Love this place, holds a lot of special memories ❤️ I went as a child, then I toke my own children and now take my grandchildren.
Lots to do: It's a great place for children and adults alike to get involved, especially looking for lego figures in the castle 🏰 😆 🤣 adults. Actually, enjoy it more!
Plenty places for picnics, second-hand books to buy, lovely staff.
Food court has a quick service with something for everyone.
Gift shop to buy those special gifts, plenty toilets, plenty of walking trails, and an adventure play area for kids young and old seemed to be loving it.

Highly recommended!
