My son started dancing here 2 years ago and his growth is exponential! Whether you take rec or want to join the competitive team, they teach fabulous technique and are well respected by other studios and choreographers who come to guest teach at their intensives or master classes. Their alumni have gone on to Jillian’s, NYU, USC, the Canadian Ballet and so much more… we started as rec 1/2x a week with another studio but this really lit a fire and passion for dance!

If your dancer is in recreational dance or going pre-professional, look no further. Dance Institute hands down will provide the best training you will find in the Austin area. We drive 30 min each way to get our dancer to the studio. Professional and exceptional teachers that take time to know each and every dancer that steps foot into that door.

My daughter trained at dance institute for nine years. I am proud to say she was one of twelve females accepted into The Juilliard School, class of ‘24, BFA Dance program. She earned a large scholarship at every university she applied to. Linda Holland, and the other teachers at DI, taught my daughter skills that continue to carry her through life... discipline, work ethic, positive attitude, and teamwork. Linda has had FOUR dancers accepted into Juilliard over the past few years. This is no small feat. DANCE INSTITUTE is the best studio to take any dancer to the next level!

I have been attending the adult Ballroom class on Tuesday nights. The professional Instructor, Denis Generalov, is very skilled and knowledgeable in International Standard Ballroom technique (and also Standard Latin). He is also fluent in both English and Russian. Denis is the best Professional Ballroom dancer in the Austin area and his classes are intended for those with some Dancesport experience, skills, and who are reasonably fit. Many of his students compete and perform in showcase events (amateur and pro-am). Denis also coaches many of the other professional dancers in the area and teaches workshops on specific dances. In addition to being a skilled dancer, Denis has the ability clearly convey the information to his students and he has the patients help them learn these techniques.

Fabulous technique, beautiful studio, wonderful children and parents...
The owner is frequently unkind, self-absorbed, talented, petty, self-sacrificing, extremely knowledgeable, demanding...a diva. The teachers know how to properly train a dancer. Dance at this level isn't for sissies. If you don't want to invest hugely with time, money, spirit and emotion...just forget it, because they won't invest in you.

I've seen negative comments from other concerned parents for this place deleted. Though the studio is nice and locatetd in a prestigious (but inconvenient ) part of town, it doesn't make up for the owner's lack of ability to communicate on a mature level. Previously I had three students enrolled but I won't be going back. My youngest (10 months) was crying for about 70 seconds when I sat her down next to me to free my hands to gather our belongings so I could wait outside for class to be through. The owner rushed the lobby and shouted "Can't someone get that baby to shut up?" Looked directly at me and said "Why don't you pick that baby up?!" All the moms in the room were just as shocked as me to hear an adult verbally assulting someone in that manner. If my child was disrupting other classes maybe asking me if I need help with quieting my baby may have been warranted but there was a group of about 8 10-12 year olds literally playing tag in the lobby. If she isn't capable of rationally working through a baby crying for a minute I can't imagine what kind of teacher she is in a classroom setting behind closed doors with a dozen prepubecent rambunctious girls. I wouldn't even consider leaving my children in her care.
