Remote castle. About mile and a half walk on Big wide paths, grass and tracks. Small rise at end. Rugged wheelchairs can get there. Castle not wheelchair friendly. Toilets and hot drinks available at castle. English heritage. Park in car park in field on right, before village. £5 all day. Friendly. Smiley owners. Main car park £9 all day! Toilets nr main car park, dirty, smelly. And that's the ladies! Good info boards around the castle, good tour book. Although lots of folks on the paths, lots of space.

Park at the town of Craster for a beautiful walk up to the Castle near the coast. The views are gorgeous and the castle is a stunning landmark in the distance.

Once you get closer you really get a sense of how large and imposing the castle must have been in its day.

Well worth a visit and is a great family day out. A good walk and Craster has some lovely Fish and Chips shops.

Entry is paid depending on age, although National trust members enter for free.

About 711 years old dating back to 1313.
Pay and display car park then about 1.2 mile walk to the castle ruins. Was interesting to see and great views of the surrounding area and the north sea.

Excellent castle with lots of staircases, rooms and views from the windows. There are little audio guides to listen to details of each numbered area. Lots to see as you wander round.

Took a beautiful coastal walk from the specified parking lot at the entrance of town (I'd say allow min 2 hrs on the parking. I just made it back but felt rushed 3hrs would be best. ) about half an hour scenic walk for the coastal route. The castle is majestic
Can only imagine what it would have been on it's prime. The views are incredible from the top of the tower. And All around the circuit of the castle. Highly recommend

Not a great deal left of this castle, what you see on approach is basically what there is plus another tower behind. Still very interesting and worth the visit with an easy walk along the coast from the car park in Craster which is about a 30 minutes walk.

Great walk from Craster with our kids (4 & 7), when we got there they enjoyed exploring, climbing the tower and playing with the blocks near the picnic benches. I recommend taking a picnic as shop only sells snacks/coffee.

The views of the castle and from the ruin are absolutely tremendous. The walk around the castle walls was also very pleasant.

Downsides include the admission fee of £10.50 for an adult and the toilet facilities. The admission fee can’t really be justified in my opinion, I don’t think the value for money is there. Perhaps a bit more interactivity for visitors could provide more value for money.
