I would like to say a huge thank you to Cathy, a receptionist at Kirton Surgery, for her excellent service and swift handling of booking my mother in law an appointment this morning. I live in York and have no knowledge of the practice, but I knew it to be an emergency. Cathy handled it with extreme efficiency and was able to fit it in with the time it would take to drive from York and pick her up. Extremely grateful. L W

Shame really. Scotter surgery that they're partnered with has lovely staff who treat you with decency.

Today I arrived for an appointment and couldn't sign in, after being ignored by the receptionist for several minutes she saw me and bruskly told me my appointment was by telephone. I have short term memory issues that I had already been to the doctor to discuss. So when I asked for an appointment reminder the other day they sent me a text confirmation that stated the time and the location at kirton surgery. When I went back to explain the confusion I was dismissed again stating "they can't change that but you were booked in for a telephone appointment". The woman was dismissive and if I had treated any of my patients and customers like she treated me, I would have been issued a counselling form. My appointment was at 1125 and it's now 1205. Still nothing from the doctor but I'll be asking for scotter only appointments in future. Someone needs to have a coaching conversation with the reception staff there as three of us were completely ignored by one woman and the woman with short white grey hair was rude. The stereotype of GP receptionists.

Sadly I have had the need to seek medical advice more than a few times quite recently.
The receptionists at Kirton have been nothing short of marvellous, with one lady going out of her way to help me - thank you Kim.
The doctors are very supportive and listen to patient concerns.
A wonderful medical practice!

Excellent service led by Dr Satpal.
People will always complain but compared to other practices Kirton is excellent. Reception are kind and extremely helpful.One example, my teenage son was feeling really ill. He was seen within the hour. Thank you to all ❤️

Great initial impressions on joining the surgery with friendly efficient staff. Initial health check appointment with the nurse was able to be arranged quickly & we found this helpful. On my first time of needing to phone for an appointment on the same day, the receptionist was friendly, I was able to be seen very quickly & Doctor Shekhawat was helpful & understanding at my appointment. I am perfectly comfortable with explaining to the receptionist staff brief details of any issue in order they can allocate appointments correctly. This is what happened at my previous practice & I believe this is fairly standard procedure.

Awful service...finished work early for a heart check appointment and arrived early..appointment system not working, no one in reception or anything in place to substitute it. After 30 minutes wait I checked reception again and someone was there with her back to the waiting room oblivious to people in the waiting room and told me to re book...doesn't patient time count for anything. They had plenty of time for laughing and joking and talking in the corridor!!!!

Personally prefer Kirton to Scotter, but it depends which GP you are able to see.

Appointments online can normally only be booked about 2 weeks away which can be a pain.

Visited this surgery christmas 23, to register. An arrogant self important woman called fiona on reception told me I couldn't register without any ID. Contrary to GMC guide lines. Appalling service appalling attitude
