Absolute scam! I tried this for one time last year in July for a free master. It didn't work and I didn't end up with the master. I cancelled and never used the website again. 8 months later in mid March, after not even logging into my account and having no correspondence with me at all, £17 is taken (stolen) from my account. I check my emails to find one from Music Gateway saying that they're cancelling their free model and moving me onto a paid model (which I did not consent to). Then they will start charging me if I didn't reply to the email. Surely, this isn't legal? I did not even see the email and with no confirmation from my end, they took the money from my account using my bank details I signed up to their free offer for (which I cancelled right away). Do not trust this company, it seems like a clear breach of data protection, using my bank details to charge me for something I did not consent to. A completely unethical company and I will be spreading the word to all of my music contacts and social media about this. I am absolutely disgusted at this company's practice. Please, do not even try this thieving company.

0-star review: Disappointing experience with [Music Gateway Distributors]! I've been requesting a takedown for my single for 4 months, but they've completely ignored my requests. To make matters worse, they've denied me access to my dashboard. Lack of communication and poor customer service. Wouldn't recommend! Don't trust them with your music.

THEFT - These guys stole £17 from my bank last Friday! I've not made music for 2 months, never used their service, they spam me every 2/3 days with no way of unsubscribing. I never used this service and never signed up, i just tried to find my supposed account and it started asking me for my first artists name? I don't work for Artists, I actually work in Floristry and music is a hobby!

How these guys manage to take money which I'm told I can't get back as I have a relationship with the music industry is beyond me, so beware, if these guys do sign you up under the cover of darkness with stealth tactics the chances are they will slam your card like they have mine, and you won't be getting your money back.

Disgusting unethical practice from another exploitative company in the music business (the last thing the music industry needs). Going by the trustpilot reviews they make it hard for you to get your money back without jumping through hoops and getting you to remove your review.

Genuinely hope they go bust. You're a disgrace.

Started charging me after signing up for a free account. Then had an error when I tried to cancel, and continued to charge me. Email support is almost non existent

If anybody is struggling to get their $20 back, try filing a dispute to your bank. Most card companies provide ways to dispute transactions, and I was able to temporarily get my $20 back as a credit from Chase.

Wow what a bunch of scammers! Subtly moving me from a free plan to a charged plan. I deleted my account but they still kept charging me! Avoid at all costs!

I initially had a great experience with Music Gateway’s distribution services and was happy to endorse them and gave them a 5 star rating in 2023. However, after two years, it has become clear that they have expanded beyond their capacity, prioritising revenue over the essential services that artists and labels rely on. As a result, customer service and communication have deteriorated significantly.

In March, I reached out regarding discrepancies in my royalties report—missing payments and incomplete data, but despite multiple follow-ups, I have yet to receive a proper response. A representative, Sophie Small, apologised last month, stating that my emails hadn’t reached their inbox and that they would investigate the issue. Even after further attempts to contact Sophie, I have still received no reply. Due to this continued lack of communication, I will be seeking legal advice.

Beyond this, the overall service has declined. Releases are taking longer to be approved, their promotion services fail to provide meaningful results, and their publishing team does little beyond marking my releases as "approved" without actually taking action. Previously, artists had direct phone access to publishing and sync teams, but this service has now been eliminated.

While Music Gateway was once a promising distributor, their focus has shifted away from the fundamentals that artists and labels need. Instead of maintaining quality, they have added services that lack real value. After extensive research, I recently moved to a new distribution company, one that has been established for years and remains true to its core values.
