An old medieval Tudor timber framed wool merchant's house dating from around 1500. It's now run as a local history museum by Axbridge and District Museum Trust. Lots of interesting things to see!

Wonderful and kind volunteers passionate about the town's history. Amazing small museum with everything including fossils, grandfather clocks and elements of the town's culture like the town crier's bell and uniform. Big smiles from the whole family.

What a truly charming museum. No self obsessiveness, just true history of the village, depicted with love and skill.
The building is scarily ancient, with a staircase to challenge the unstable, and creaky floorboards you can see through to the storeys below!
Hours could easily be spent here studying the fascinating exhibits.
And it is free entry!!

The lodge itself is a quirky and wonky three story building with lots of character. Filled with interesting artifacts relating to the town.
The town itself has more blue plaques that I have ever seen in one place.
I would recommend picking up a free map of the town from inside the lodge, this highlights all the historic buildings around the town that you can go and see.

Great little museum and free of charge (donations encouraged). Whilst the exhibits inside are really interesting and eye opening (from the village stocks, to the man and bear traps) the building itself is a time machine and a perfect place to look out from and towards the medieval square or at from the square itself. A must-see followed by a drink or tea in one of the nearby pubs/almshouses.

It was a really good little place to visit, they couldn't get anymore interesting things if they tried, but for us it was the house, it is amazing walking around the way the wood rests together, you actually feel as if you've had a couple of pints (lol). Would definitely recommend a visit as it is set in a lovely square where you can have food and drinks (on nice day) and a church to visit.

What a gem! A very important medievel
structure with a window back into history. Great little museum. The NT staff member was so knowledgeable about this lodge and the surrounding town. Well worth a visit.

Really enjoyed. Shame there's nothing else close in walking distance. But the house is really interesting with things to see.
As for the staff, they were amazing, knew what they were on about and were extremely friendly.
