Utilizing Sharps Bedrooms Ltd.: A Guide

If you are considering engaging with Sharps Bedrooms Ltd., whether for a new bedroom setup, furniture refresh, or replacement pieces, the following points offer a recommended approach:

  • Explore their offerings: Visit their website to browse their product catalog, view images, and potentially configure certain items online. If a physical showroom is available, a visit allows firsthand experience of the quality and design options.
  • Inquire about delivery and assembly: Before purchasing, especially for larger items, clarify the delivery charges, estimated delivery window, and whether assembly services are provided (which can be particularly important for large wardrobes or beds). This information should be readily available upon contact.
  • Contact them directly: Utilize the provided phone number to speak with a representative. This is an opportunity to ask detailed questions about specific products, customization options (if available), warranty information, and to get a sense of their customer service approach. • Consider the accessibility features: If you or someone accompanying you has mobility challenges, the information regarding wheelchair accessibility is reassuring and should be factored into your visit planning. Confirm the accessibility features before your visit if possible.

While their manufacturing capability might suggest high-quality standards, the relatively average customer rating warrants careful consideration. Reading through the 31 Google reviews can provide specific examples of customer experiences, helping you form a more informed judgment. Comparing their offerings, pricing, and service terms with other bedroom furniture retailers in the local Wolverhampton area or online marketplaces can also provide valuable context before making a final decision.

Terrible, stressful experience from start to finish! Although the wardrobes now look nice, it’s taken from July til December to complete the job. The original design meeting went well and we felt confident going ahead with Sharps, although we were surprised at how expensive it was but we were willing to pay for good quality fitted wardrobes.

Everything went wrong from there - the installation went completely wrong due to the wardrobe doors being measured and made the wrong size. Multiple installers who were supposed to fix the problem didn’t turn up, causing my husband and I to miss countless hours of work. Rubbish was left all over our house forcing us to do multiple tip runs to get rid of all the excess wood. Shelves in the interior of one of the wardrobes were fitted on a slant, the exterior front of a drawer had bubbling in the wood, the knobs were badly scratched and placed on the bottom drawers in hopes we wouldn’t notice. One of the wardrobe doors was missing a hinge. The rail in one of the wardrobes started dipping in the middle as soon as clothes were placed on it - Sharps told me this was due to the weight of the clothes when in reality that rail wasn’t even full with T-shirts. Our ceiling was also damaged during the installation. I had one installer ring me the night before he was booked to come to us, asking if he should come? I told him I had no idea and he said neither did he! Apparently Sharps staff don’t communicate with each other and take no pride in their work. Customer service is also no help when you phone them - it’s always the same person who doesn’t want to know and always just told us she had no answers for us. We were planning to have an office room done with Sharps but we will absolutely never use them again.

Very pleased with bespoke fitted wardrobe under sloping ceiling in loft bedroom. Installer worked hard all day and completed it in 1 day. Had to wait for second delivery of some parts due to damage spotted by 1st installer, which was disappointing and delayed fitting. Hopefully waste will be collected by Christmas.

OVERPRICED & UNDERWHELMING
A brief chronology for you all readers to understand - be aware!

Sharps Representative 1 - Misleading to secure deposit payment.
Approach from Saleswoman was friendly and confident. In hindsight, the presentation given (alongside brochure pictures and the TV advertising) led me to think these "made-to-measure" wardrobes are fully lined - WRONG

Sharps Representative 2 - This is where you find out how really this is going to be…TOO LATE TO CALL IT OFF
Approach from Surveyor was very straightforward. When he saw that I wanted a dark contrast interior he warned me the back and the sides against the wall would not be lined, therefore I would see the white walls amongst the internal dark structure.
Sharps doesn't have a corresponding paint colour reference for you to paint the walls to match. At no point I was informed I could go for an optional lining.

Sharps Representative 3 - This is where you really feel like YOU HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF
Approach from the Fitter was not friendly - he just wanted me out of the room to do his job with no engagement whatsoever.
In hindsight this was a big mistake, because he took wrong decisions about conspicuous joints. By the time I saw his mistakes it was too late to make any remedial work.
Only at this point of the shenanigans the Fitter informed me I could have opted for a lined interior….😳

IN CONCLUSION
This company is spending too much money on advertising and not enough on technology & engineering - there is hardly anything "made to measure" about my wardrobe. It's just a pile of on-site roughly cut trims (just cut in length) built around standard size moulded "plastic" lookalike doors.
Lamination of internal components is of questionable quality. Some of these are pre-cut to measure, but edges are left raw with no lamination at all.
Overall, the design is very unbalanced - there is hardly any skirting board height whilst the gap between the door and the ceiling is huge.
To add insult to injury, packaging and off-cuts were left onsite - £6,000 for a wardrobe is not enough for Sharps to manage waste!

A design and quote was done but when when the surveyor came 2 weeks later it transpired that the wardrobe couldn’t be built on top of the carpet so I would have to remove and relay myself. That the electrics for the lights would also have to be dealt with by myself. Not once did the salesperson indicate this. When I pointed out that the order was miss sold and that if I have been made aware of this I would probably not have gone ahead I was assured that they could get a contracted in to do the work and that it would be taken off the price. Quote was done and came to over £800 and I was then told that they would only contribute £300. Therefore I was miss sold miss led and lied to. I asked the sales person to clarify and even wrote to Mr Kevin Smith but got no responses. Therefore I felt in comfortable in that a good job would be done and any problems resolved. Their slogan is “design solutions” with bespoke fitting. Don’t think so. Waiting a refund of deposit.

Slick sales team but broken promises and delays to our fitting date, excuse after excuse, not particularly helpful when you phone anyone other than the sales team. We had everything lined up, bedroom decorated, then carpet fitted followed by delivery and assembly of our new bed. All of this worked around them only to have them mess it all up!
Foe a supposedly prestigious company that charge a lot for their products I expected much more.

Don’t waste your time having them out to give you a quote on fitted wardrobes. The prices are absolutely disgusting. They say 50% off and a further 20%.

They quoted us £7,000 for two bedrooms, if it was 70% off that would of made the wardrobes £15,400. How could they possibly think someone is so stupid to believe that.

They then quoted my from £22,000. £22,000 for wood.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME, THEY ARE FALSE ADVERTISING. 70% OFF THEY SAY. ITS A SCAM
