Far better than I expected it to be, In that there is so much there to do even if the night is cloudy. Luckily for us after about an hour the cloud disappeared and we were able to view Jupiter and four moons through the telescope.
All the staff and volunteers were super friendly and happy to answer all questions.
Can't speak for the cafe as I took my own food but it looked like they had a decent selection of stuff at least.

This is a truly wonderful museum with loads of hands-on learning for all ages. The working observatory's equipment and buildings are an attraction in themselves, but the science centre this houses is a must for young scientists! An absolute gem.

We really were not sure about visiting with our 9yo as we thought that it looked a little small and would not really be worth the price of admission. WE WERE WRONG. We arrived just after lunch and were practically thrown out as we needed more time!!

The place is a gem of little experiments and science bits to keep everyone entertained for hours on end. We will definitely re-visit.

The staff were kind and thoughtful, and the grounds are well kept. The exhibits themselves are old, but they still are very much relevant and fun. My son LOVED the vacuum chair lift!

Thank you for a great visit.

Can't understand how this place isn't far busier! An amazing day out with a 5 and 9 year old. So many activities, including water play. All making scientific concepts easier to understand, accessible and fun. Fun for big kids like me and smaller ones too 🙂 The kids enjoyed seeing the Observatory dome rotate and roof open too.

Great little museum with plenty of great exhibits. One or two were not working when we went but generally well maintained. The experimental bits are very well done. At least as good as the Science museum but a little less battered. The staff are helpful. Really it is aimed at up to 11 year olds but went with a 15 year old who enjoyed it. The practical science side is great. And then there are the observatories themselves. These are really good Interesting and if you get a clear evening probably amazing. We went it was cloudy. Not unusual to be fair. Great museum well worth a visit.

Really lovely science centre. Mostly outdoors so wrap up if it's chilly. We spent 4 hrs there with a 9 and 10yr old - could've been another hour or so! Lots of hands on stuff, a science show and a telescope talk where they opened the dome etc. Cute little gift shop, great small cafe with very reasonably priced food. Excellent hot dog and chips from the van in the garden. Have to admit, we went not expecting much but had such a great afternoon - adults as well as kids. Don't expect swanky surroundings but all the exhibits were working and it had a great feel. Would recommend!

People, go and enjoy this treasure before it's too late. A wonderful place to be a kid, whether an actual kid or an adult wanting to bring out your inner child.

The recent stargazing evenings are the definition of wholesomeness - ditch your phone, social media time vacuum, and go see something real and bigger than all of us.

Support this amazing place and people who dedicate their time to providing a personal experience without the faff and fluff.

Great experience and actually lots to do for children too. It is advisable to buy a red light torch in advance.
