As a Carrick native back on a visit from UK I was really looking forward to a pink pastie and real onion rings. I had these on my last visit a year ago and they were fabulous. However, last night was far from fabulous. I have never eaten anything before that made me physically sick until this latest effort. Both pastie and onion rings were covered in grease and instead of looking light and crispy they were brown and soggy. There was a pungent smell and the taste was off old fat. You need to change your frying fat guys. The one star is for the curry sauce which was tasty. Very disappointed.

While others are fighting for the top spot there is some competition for the worst chippie in Northern Ireland.
You'd be excused to probably believe a place in Carrickfergus could make chips but no, these are what I can only class as minging. Stuck together sweaty oily mess. A mere smattering of them too alongside 2 dried up sausages that look like they've been out all day.

£7+ for this Should be utterly ashamed.

Avoid like a thing you'd not want to be near.

Got a Saugage Supper this evening.
The sausages were fine but the chips were totally rubbish.
Sadly gone down hill since the last times I got from here 🙁
It use to be of a consistent high quality.

For me the best tasting chippy around! The team are always busy but are always so efficient and attentive. The collect service is also very well organised with orders always being on time and accurate! Thank you 🙏

Ian and his team are really great.. the food is of a really high standard and tasty. The staff always greet you with a smile. When ordering over the phone they are pretty sharp on their timings highly recommended.

Disappointed with the food. Chicken goujons with barely any chicken in them. Surrounded by hard batter. Two of the goujons I could have used a hammer to open up and eat. Overdone unpleasant.

Given that the Hot Spot has about 8 staff and the place is always rammed with people will speak a thousand words on the quality of their food. I'm nearly 100% positive you will not be able to find anything here that's not really nice. Try the pastie bap, epic 👌
