Recently bought a car from Wheelers and had an overwhelmingly positive experience all round. The car was brought up to a good standard before handover, including an MOT, wheel refurb, and partial service, which were both nice touches. Ben, the salesman, was very helpful throughout the process and maintained contact despite being OOO for part of the time. While there have been no issues since collecting the air, I feel that Wheelers would go the extra mile to rectify any issues within the warranty period.

Either shady or lack expertise…neither is good. (Note update as of June 17 at bottom…teaser…it’s not good)

We purchased a car from Wheeler in October 2023 and at that time I was pretty happy with everything. After the paint on the front fender has peeled off in the wind and other auto shops have noted that it was clearly poorly painted without proper (or any) priming, I realized my experience was actually pretty poor, as my car was likely in some sort of accident that was 1) never declared to me or 2) wheeler doesn’t have the basic expertise to identify that there was overspray on the headlight and seals that were painted over. There’s no other options and neither is good for Wheelers. Instead they claim that they didn’t know and won’t do anything and claim that ā€œenvironmental conditionsā€ may have contributed (to an unprimed, improper paint job that other body shops immediately recognized)

In my opinion, this is the worst type of auto dealership. Do not trust anything about this company and do not buy a car from them.

I wanted to extend an appreciation to wheelers for exhibiting the lack of professionalism and expertise I was highlighting in their response. They are lacking either candor in declaring an accident or don’t have the basic expertise to know when a car has been repainted. PLEASE REVIEW THEIR RESPONSE AS IT WILL DEMOSTRATE EVERYTHING IM SAYING. You can make your decision on whether to buy a car from them. In case they delete it, I’ve added a screenshot.

So let’s go through their response.

They are making a claim that I was my car in hot water with a power washer. Do you wash cars in hot water? How does one heat water in a power washer? Im sure my hose doesn’t have hot water and I can’t imagine a car-wash makes a money with the extra expense of spending money to heat water.

And by Wheelers (poor) math I’ve washed my car 50 times. 50 times. I bought the car in October 2023 and the peeling started and circa February 2025. I first reported this in April, which is at most 18 months not 20 months. I have phone records to show I called.

Further, that would still not explain that the paint was not (pre)treated properly as anyone can see from the pics. The improper paint job is actually what caused the problem. Not anything I’ve done. Also no place else on the car is peeling so why not with 50+ washes in hot water? Wheelers has multiple pics that show this, but either are unwilling to admit it or don’t actually have an expertise in paint. Two body shops have independently told me this has obviously been painted incorrectly. Those two body shops are Merlin in Brackley and the Hyundai dealership in Banbury who have no stake in this and I would recommend them!

So, they presented timeline that is obviously incorrect (which can be proven). Their estimation of how much the car is washed is ridiculous. They claim that it’s done due to hot water and power wash, yet the peeling is not anywhere else on the car. Lastly, they have never returned a phone call (with the exception of the person who read the review, said he’d call back, never did, and then wrote wheelers response…again provable).

If you’re reading reviews, you are a smart buyer and this review along with the response from Wheeler should be enough to make you know not to trust them or buy a vehicle from them.

Found a car i really like on their website, popped along and test drove it, felt no pressure to purchase, happily popped down a deposit to hold the car as I needed to speak with my husband. We decided to purchase as the finance offer was within budget, Amber kept in touch and updated when the vehicle would be ready to collect and the whole collection process was the quickest we've ever encountered. Amber had everything sorted and ready for our arrival and off we went!

Unlike typical high-pressure car sales experiences, Amber was warm, approachable, and professional. Sharks in Suits.
I bought 2017 Citroen Dispatch van nearly 6 months ago. The van had done a good amount of milage and had some vear and tear on it. It needed new tyres, brake pads, and other parts. As well there was an oil leak somewhere from the engine. When I was buying it, I was promised that everything would be sorted out and fixed, as well they would do full service on my van. As it was the case and van had a fair amount of miles, I asked them to change the timing belt on top of it, as they already were going to do a lot of work on the van. We agreed that I would pay extra for timing belt replacement, as it's an additional request.
It took them nearly 4 weeks to sort everything out. Once I received my van everything looked great and nice. Looked like everything that they said they were going to do was done. However, after 2 months, my van had a leak from the engine. I contacted Wheelers, and they agreed to fix it as part of them 3 months warranty.
I took the van, and it was fixed, and I thought it would be the end of it, as after all, they were fixing the oil leak for the second time. Oh, how wrong I was. So, another good 2 months passed, and again, I have an oil leak. I was really gutted about it. As I thought it was sorted out by them service team.
Unfortunately, that's not the reason I'm giving a 1-star review... as I was driving my van from work, it started playing up as it's their air lock in the fuel system. So I decided to bleed fuel system, and on top of it, check fuel filter as maybe there was some sediment in there or anything like that. And there it was, where I found surprise, a fuel filter which was manufactured in June 2019. It's a 5 year old fuel filter, which long time a go stopped doing it job. I was shocked as it supposed to be changed when they supposedly done full service. So, for the peace of mind, I decided to check the air filter, as it took a couple of minutes to take it out and check. Guess what I found... an air filter which looked like it's done 20k miles. Filter housing was full of hay, and I don't work anywhere near fields or farms, so only God knows how long it was there. I added air filter photos after I cleaned with the blower, as well as fuel filter photos.
So, just looking at old worn-out filters, I can tell they were there more than 6 months, and no one bother to do service on my van as it was agreed upon by purchase. So now when everyone is relaxing and enjoying Christmas time and buying gifts for them loved ones, I'm stressing out wondering where to get additional money for van service. As well as, have they actually changed the timing belt or just took my money and laughed behind my back. My plan was to have peace of mind for another few years and not to worry that I would have to change the timing belt and would have a reliable van. However, now I'm in a position where I have to take a reputable garage for timing belts to be changed just to be on the safe side. As well to get full van service.
Just to add salt on the wound, when the van was taken September for an oil leak, there was another fault with the ABS system, which was "fixed." Well, I thought it was fixed, as when I collected my van, there was no fault on the screen. However, not even 3 months passed after I collected the van, and the fault came back. At this point, I'm not sure if my bad luck or Wheelers service is very great at making temporary fixings. Photos of fault added with dates on them.
