Definitely a must visit for adults and children. Neil shared his knowledge on how the collies must be taught to obey him. We had opportunities to shear a sheep, feed the calf and play with baby lamb. Every one has fun.

Neil was extremely informative. You could tell he loved what he did. It was very Hands-On and no question was turned away. Held baby sheep, puppies and Fed a calf. Helped shear sheep. Highly recommend. Pay cash.

Working Sheepdogs in Kincraig Scotland, south east of Inverness in the Highlands, was an excellent experience that we stopped for on bus tour of Scotland. Nestled in the mountains, we entered the clearing where the sheep and the dogs worked. Our host, Neil Ross, instructed us on how he trained his sheepdogs and the calls that he used to guide them.

The very well trained dogs performed various herding tactics to steer the sheep into their enclosure. Later, Neil demonstrated sheep shearing and a few brave volunteers were able to give it a try. At the end, to top it off, a big basket of adorable puppies was brought out for us to cuddle with. It was a really fun experience and a great memory of our tour of Scotland.

Wonderful and informative demonstration with the sheepdogs. We learned a lot about how the dogs are trained, what makes a good sheepdog, and the lives of shepherds. Neil is so passionate about his dogs and his work. It was a really memorable experience - one of the highlights of our trip!

Send an email a day or two prior for times on the days you wish to attend. Neil was really quick and responsive. We arrived about fifteen minutes early and that was great as we got a chance to pet the dogs and avoid the arrival of the tour bus 🙂

Absolute best experience! Neil Ross was incredible. He educated us on the art of herding and the shepherd life style. He was very nice and very welcoming. It was so much fun to watch the pups work. You get to feed the lambs and play with the pups! Incredible experience. Our family had a blast!

Can't describe how worth it this is. So so cool to see how Neil works with the dogs and the sheep. The dogs are so unbelievably smart and in sync with Neil, it's truly a sight to see. Any trip from Edinburgh to Inverness should include a stop off to see Neil's demonstration - well worth the 20 quid. Make sure to shoot him an email in advance to know what time he's doing the demonstration.

Neil and his sheepdogs are lovely! He gives an educational insight into how he herds his sheep and even brought out some of his cattle. He is open to any questions and is overall extremely friendly

Showtimes vary each day and it is good to call in the day before just to confirm.

THEY ARE OPEN! We set out before dawn and drove 3.5 hours from Portree to make the 9am demo, and we couldn't have been more pleased. We called the day prior to find out more info and Mr. Neil himself kindly returned our call to let us know the availability. Visitors are to park in the designated area and wait there until the demo starts. Neil shared his passion for his craft with us and had endless patience for the questions of the tour group that attended at the same time. We hope he gets to continue educating the public of the important work he does for decades to come. (Thanks again for the hospitality. We hope to visit again soon!)
